The reason we all go to school s and colleges is to become learned and knowledgeable. Studies give you knowledge and in the practical world one is nothing without knowledge.
Having said that, knowledge alone is not enough. There must also be an element of grooming. The students should also be taught morality and ethics along with science and technology.
The sign of a quality education is strong moral principles. There are many Christian universities which focus on giving education which has both knowledge and morals in it.
What is Christian counseling?
Christian counseling is the act of helping a person or a group of people through a difficult time. Christian counseling in many regards no different from usual counseling apart from the fact that basic principles of Christianity are functional in the process.
The Christian counselor doesn’t necessarily have to a full time person. He can be anyone. He can be your school teacher or a shop owner. Anyone can be a Christian counselor as long as they have the ability.
There are both part time Christian counselors and full time counselors. There are individuals and there are organizations that carry Christian counseling practices.
Why should I become a Christian counselor?
Christian counselor is a job not suitable for everyone. Anyone can be a manager or a sales person but this job requires knowledge, skill and dedication. Apart from being monetary stable, this job also gives self realization opportunities to the person.
While counseling you learn a lot about life and yourself. You have to do a job to survive in this world. What better job is there than to spread the word of God.
Education for Christian counseling jobs
Different organizations have different requirements when it comes to education required for the job. There are different degrees and diplomas available in all good universities across the country. Many universities offer courses on counseling which also cover Christian counseling portion. Of course, there are many Christian universities who focus primarily on teaching Christian counseling to students.
Although, most of the times formal degree is not required. Practically speaking, a degree will help you a lot. Without a degree you’ll probably never be able to master the craft of counseling. The better the quality of your education is, the higher your odds are of becoming successful.
How to get Christian counseling jobs?
Let’s start from the most easy and obvious platform: the internet. You can find plenty of job opportunities on internet. There are countless websites which will allow you to bid on different jobs. Also, you’ll be able to browse different job requirement ads and the portals of the companies that are interested in hiring Christian counselors.
The next option is to manually look for jobs. You can visit different churches, charity organizations and other places which have a Christian teaching element in them. Sometimes you’ll only get internships or part time jobs in organizations but you should keep in mind that these part time opportunities turn into full time employments later on.
