If you want your grout to last longer, and not have to be cleaned every weekend, maybe the best thing that you can do is to seal your grout with a good quality grout sealer. A grout sealer is a good idea because it helps to maintain your grout’s original color. Often white grout will turn dark over time, or they may even get stained. By using a grout sealer, you can prevent both of these things from happening. The way that a grout sealer works is that it gets down into the porous surface of the grout and it seals it. It keeps things from penetrating, like moisture, dirt, and germs. When you have your grout sealed on a regular basis, it makes it so you don’t have to clean grout as often.
The great news is that sealing grout is not that difficult to do. If you have the right tools, it makes it especially easy for you to seal your grout in your bathroom, your kitchen, or your tile floor. Usually, we recommend that people seal their grout when they initially install their tile, and then every 4 to 6 months. If you use an epoxy grout, you never have to worry about refilling it again because it is self-sealing.
A lot of people like grout sealing. They like putting on a grout sealer, because it helps to look finished and stay clean for longer. There are water-based grout sealers, oil-based, and grout sealers that contain silicon. Out of these three, the water-based grout sealers are the least expensive. They tend to do a pretty good job as long as you buy them often. The advantage of using one of the other two types of grout sealers is that you won’t have to apply it to your tile and grout quite as often.
